AlShaatha's Film Life in a Week

I've watched several films this past two week which made me overwhelmed by either its beauty, or depression.

I've discovered this YouTube channel, which has all the films of the great Swedish director Ingmar Bergman:

His films address several issues of philosophy, faith, human psyche, death, and insanity. Pretty intense & deep. His films are not made to enjoy, they're made to make you think for several days ahead.

I wrote about one of his films; "Persona", here:

(although now when I read the article, I find it missing so many points)

The ones I watched this week or the week before are listed below (& I highly recommend each one of them, you may find them in the channel above) :

Wild Strawberries: about an aging doctor, reminiscing his past life.

Cries and Whispers: about a woman dying of cancer, surrounded by her cold two sisters, and a kind maid. This film is frightening, not horror kind of frightening. It's depressing, but genius. Two friends of mine watched it after my recommendation, and they were basically like: I hate you Sha3tha for making me watch this, but I'll go watch some more Bergman films right now.

Shame: about two married couples escaping the horror of war, and how it changed their lives and characters.

Through a Glass Darkly: the first film of Bergman's "Faith Trilogy", about a woman suffering of schizophrenia, and her perception of God. She's surrounded by her father, husband, and brother. Those 4 characters are the only people in the film. The film has allusions of two great works of literature: Dostoyevsky's Crime & Punishment, and Charlotte Perkins Gilman's famous short story "The Yellow Wallpaper".

After this, I was like, I should really give myself a break from Bergman. I watched a film of another great director, the French director Jean Luc Godard. I watched his famous film "Vivre sa Vie", or "My Life to Live", starring the beautiful Anna Karina (I'm taken by her beauty, and I'm jealous lol). The film is about a young lady wanting to be a singer, but the needs and toughness of life leads her to being a prostitute. Here's a beautiful scene from the film with a great musical score:

Yesterday, I watched a beautiful film by the famous Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski. He's famous of his "Three Colors Trilogy", but I watched "The Double Life of Veronique". I'm overwhelmed by the beauty of this film. I tweeted about it the whole day today. It's about two women, a Polish choir soprano, and her double a French music teacher. They're living in two different countries, and know nothing of each other, but they feel there is a connection between them. The film is brilliant, and it's definitely in my top 5 favorite films. Here are my two favorite musical scenes:
